My Values

October 25, 2026

These are the things I won't compromise on. Most of them aren't original. I borrowed them, nearly word for word, from Naval Ravikant's list of values in The Almanack of Naval Ravikant, which is on my recommended reading list. I agreed with almost all of it, so this is my version.

I value honesty. I want to be able to just be me. When what I think and what I say come apart, I stop being present and start planning every conversation. Anywhere I can't be fully honest, I can't be. And before you can lie to someone else, you have to lie to yourself.

I don't believe in short-term thinking. Everything good in life compounds: money, relationships, love, health, habits. If I see someone I work with act short-term with someone else, I stop working with them. I only want people in my life I'd want there for the rest of it, and I only want to work on things with a long-term payoff.

I only believe in peer relationships. I don't want to be above anyone or below anyone.

I don't want anger in my life. Holding anger is like holding a hot coal you mean to throw at someone else. I've been angry before, so I don't judge anyone for it, but it's something to work on alone.

I want to have the greatest positive impact on humanity that I can, by adding to the world, not sucking resources from others.

I want a family, and a wife who is loving and family-oriented.

From what I've seen, people usually fall out because their values don't line up, even when they thought the little things wouldn't matter.
